Falls whilst working at height remains a significant cause of serious injuries and death in industries today.
The regulation applies to all tasks performed at height where there is a risk of fall liable to cause personal injury, regardless of the actual distance.
Having an adequate rescue plan is a requirement of these regulations.
S.I.S sal can advice on the latest HSE regulations/legislations, and provide the correct fall arrest equipment for the environment.
The arrester range of safety harnesses and positioning belts have been designed to be as comfortable, safe and as practical as possible for the wearer with ease of donning particularly in mind.
The European standards categorize systems into distinct groups:
Where the danger of a fall exists in work areas, full body harnesses, approved to EN361 should be worn
Fall arrest blocks are approved to EN 360
Positioning belts are approved to EN 358
1- Positioning belts should not be used in applications where there is a risk of a fall
2- A line without an energy absorbing system must not be used as a fall-protection system
3- The anchoring point must be strong enough to bear the energy of a fall.
4- The anchoring point for the fall–protection system should preferably be installed above the position of the user.
5- The total length of the energy absorber, including the anchoring element, terminals and Anchors must not exceed 2 meters.
